Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic

General questions

What if my dog refuses to take this product?

No problem. Every dog is different, and all dogs have unique smells and taste preferences that are pleasing specifically to them. If your dog refuses to take our product, simply wrap the tablet in a favorite treat or break it apart into smaller pieces and sprinkle them into their food.

Should I give this product to my dog daily or only when he has issues?

Yes, and yes. The answer is truly dog-dependent, and you know your dog better than anyone else.

One dog’s gastrointestinal tract may be different than another dog’s.

Reasons for these differences include:

  • Genetics
  • Stomach and intestinal sensitivities
  • Daily stressors: i.e. being left alone, boarding, training/showing, garbageeating, diet changes
  • Chronic stressors such as digestive disorders, age, medications, cancer, illness

Probiotic therapy can be approached in two ways:

1. Daily maintenance: give probiotics daily to combat everyday stressors and/or chronic stressors 2. Therapeutic dose: give a higher dose of probiotics twice daily for support of digestive disorders, illness or antibiotic therapy; given until the dog is eating normally and showing optimal GI health (i.e. good appetite, formed stool)

Answering these questions will guide your approach. If you are unsure, consult with your veterinarian.

How long do I need to give this product before I see a difference?

We recommend giving this product for a minimum of 10-14 days. If you do not see a difference, consult your veterinarian as there may be other factors or underlying problems contributing to your dog’s GI health

Do you offer this product in a larger quantity?

YES. We have a 60 count and 120 count bottle (coming soon!) available. Occasionally, we offer a three-for-two-deal as well. We intentionally make small quantities to ensure viable bacteria and optimal potency.

Do I need a probiotic supplement if probiotics are included in my dog’s food?

First, there are great challenges with probiotics in dog food! The biggest is dose – putting high enough levels of probiotics in food and have them survive is near impossible. Cooking and extruding can have a negative effect on bacterial survival. Some dog food is sprayed with probiotics after processing, which may have a greater chance of presenting viable bacteria. However, several studies testing commercial “probiotic” diets revealed very low levels of organisms.

Will the probiotics in Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic survive past the stomach?

Yes. It really comes down to a game of numbers!

We know that the number of viable probiotic microorganisms is critical in two ways:

  • The amount of any one species, also called CFU (colony-forming units)
  • The diversity of biologically different probiotic microorganisms
We know that some of the good microorganisms won’t survive the harsh environment of the stomach. We also know that the concentration of beneficial bacteria must be higher than the invading pathogens, particularly those microorganisms that must pass through the stomach.

This is why the initial dose needs to be highly-concentrated and contain fresh, viable organisms. This will ensure that the right amount of good probiotic microorganisms reaches their targeted destination. In addition, Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic contains an ample amount of Lactobacillus organisms, which thrive in an acidic environment. For example, Lactobacillus acidophilus, a lactic-acid producing bacteria that resides in the stomach, loves an acidic environment and will secrete adequate amounts of acid to maintain a pH that is intolerable for many opportunistic pathogens.

Other probiotic microorganisms prefer the alkaline (less-acidic) environment of the large intestine. Ensuring that enough organisms will successfully pass through the stomach and continue to the large intestine starts at the beginning with a highly-concentrated and viable initial dose of good microorganisms!

That being said, to receive true health benefits from probiotics, you are better off giving probiotics directly in supplement form.

Can I give my pet yogurt instead of this product?

While yogurt contains “good” bacteria, not all yogurt is created equally. There is also no guarantee that yogurt will contain adequate numbers of viable organisms that are alive and active.

In addition, many yogurts contain sugar, so choose plain, organic yogurt if your dog enjoys a spoonful. Also be aware that some dogs are be lactose-intolerant and may not stomach yogurt.

Ideally, the best way to include probiotics in your dog’s diet is with a “concentrated” probiotic supplement. Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic is a specifically-designed, concentrated blend of ten probiotic bacteria with a prebiotic designed to promote optimal gut and immune health.

Can I use the product for my cat, or do you offer a probiotic for felines?

We are in the process of developing a probiotic optimized for felines.

Condition-related questions

Do you recommend your product for use with antibiotic therapy?

Yes, absolutely!

We recommend giving Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic during and for two weeks following antibiotic therapy treatment.

Antibiotics are like biologic weapons to bacteria – they kill both good and bad bacteria indiscriminately. Many dogs experience mild to severe forms of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The eradication of too many good guys can enable a disease-causing strain of bacteria, called Clostriudium difficile, to overpopulate the gut and cause diarrhea. Supplementing with a good probiotic can lessen or prevent the severity of antibiotic-associated diarrhea in your dog.

Give Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic two hours before or after administration of an antibiotic. Repopulating the gut with favorable species to replace those killed by antibiotics is important in improving the microbial balance in your dog’s gut. Probiotics also activate the immune system so the body can fight more effectively.

Safety-related questions

Are there any side effects associated with this product?

We always recommend giving half of the recommended dose upon first administration and evaluating how your dog responds. Your dog’s gut may take a while to acclimate, ridding itself of the bad bacteria and increasing the concentration of the good bacteria.

The most common side effect is flatulence during the acute acclimation phase. However, once the gut has been optimized with good bacteria, the flatulence will subside.

Is this product safe for puppies?

Yes, probiotics are safe and advantageous for puppies. We recommend starting puppies on Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic at eight weeks of age.

Should I be concerned if my dog ingests too much of this product?

Too much of a good thing too fast can be a problem! Your dog may experience gas or bloating for several days, but should not otherwise be adversely affected. Discontinue use of this product until symptoms subside and then begin again.

Can this product be given with other medications?

Yes. However, give Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic two hours before or two hours after administration of an antibiotic.

Do I need a prescription from my veterinarian to order this product?

No, but we are fans of the team approach and strongly recommend informing your veterinarian when using any supplement or product for your pet.

Storage-related questions

How should I store this product?

Our LiveBac® manufacturing process guarantees that at least 50% of the probiotic bacteria will survive for eighteen months; most probiotics on the market can’t promise this claim. We stand behind ours!

The manufacturing date can be found on the bottom of the bottle. We purposefully produce small batches at a time, ensuring the freshest, most viable bacteria for optimal efficacy. Best practice is using Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic within six months of opening.

If unable to store the product at temperatures below 77° F, Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic can be stored in the refrigerator.

Is the product stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse?

Yes. We take careful efforts to ensure our Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic is stored in temperature-controlled facilities.

We also produce small batches of our Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic to ensure that the bacteria are viable and concentrated when delivered to you.

Will the probiotic bacteria live longer if I refrigerate the product?

Yes. Refrigeration is not necessary with our LiveBac® manufacturing process, but keeping the product in the refrigerator will prolong the potency and viability of the microorganisms.

Ingredient-/process-related questions

Is the product made in the USA with only USA-sourced ingredients?

Yes, our manufacturer is a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) facility certified by NSF International, an independent, accredited organization that tests and certifies products.

Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic is made right here in the USA using only ingredients that are USA-sourced.

Is this product’s flavoring vegetarian- or animal-based?

This product’s flavoring is vegetarian-based!

Given that many dogs who have GI disorders have food allergies and sensitivities, we went through painstaking efforts to seek a flavor combo that smells and tastes good but does not contain any animal-based products.

Can I give Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic if my dog has food allergies?

Absolutely! We had your dog in mind when we created this product.

Many probiotic products on the market today contain animal-based flavorings to enhance the palatability of the supplement which can be an issue for animalprotein allergic dogs.

We took Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic a step further by creating a product that was palatable and mimicked an animal-based flavor, using only using vegetarian-based ingredients with no chemicals, sugar or gluten.

Is this product dairy-free?

Our probiotic may contain trace amounts of milk, an essential ingredient for growing viable, healthy, efficacious bacteria.

High Potency Daily Digestive Enzymes for Pets

General questions

What’s the best way to give Daily Digestive Enzymes?

Our enzymes should be sprinkled on top of your pet’s dry food or mixed into wet or raw food before serving. Since the enzymes are in a white, odorless and flavorless fine powder, they should blend seamlessly with your pet’s food.

Should I give Daily Digestive Enzymes every day or only when there is an obvious digestive problem?

We recommend giving Daily Digestive Enzymes every day! Adding digestive enzymes will boost your dog’s ability to extract and digest the nutrients in any food – thus better satisfying your dog’s appetite and nutritional needs. Nutrients that pass through the digestive system without being completely digested are NOT absorbed into the bloodstream and instead end up as undigested, foulsmelling poop – a waste of money on good dog food!

Why would my dog need digestive enzymes supplementation?

Although the body is equipped with enzymes that perform digestive actions, certain conditions can negatively affect the digestion and assimilation of your pet’s food:

    1. Cooked, heavily processed commercial pet food is deficient in live, natural enzymes what are essential to unlock the valuable nutrients in the food.

     2. Manufacturer-supplied raw or dehydrated food is certainly better but has its limitations (see more on this below).

     3. Age - as your pet ages, their digestive system slows its production of digestive enzymes which can lead to less-than-optimal metabolic function and less-than-optimal health for your pet.

     4. Illness - any disease that affects the digestive system, the pancreas, or gallbladder can cause disturbance in enzyme production.

I already feed my dog expensive, high-quality food - why would my dog still need digestive enzymes supplementation?

There is really not anything wrong with the food! The issue is that the food has to be prepared in certain ways to preserve shelf life, and to ensure that it’s clear of any harmful germs – and to do that, virtually all pet food (wet or dry) is heat processed, radiated, and/or pasteurized. This keeps the food safer for consumption, but it kills the digestive enzymes that naturally occur with different food types.

We also know that many processed dog foods use carbohydrates and cereals - rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tapioca, oatmeal, peas, barley, corn - which are not part of a dogs natural, ancestral diet! (Did you know that even grain-free dog foods still contain carbohydrates?) Supplementing cellulose, hemicellulose, and beta glucanase enzymes facilitates the breakdown of fiber and plant polysaccharides which can be a challenge for dogs ingesting a modern diet.

Incorporating digestive enzymes daily enables dogs to breakdown proteins, fats, and carbohydrates so the nutrients and energy from their food can be more easily absorbed into the bloodstream to support optimal health and vitality!

I feed my dog a raw food diet consisting of meat, vegetables and fruit - why would my dog still need digestive enzymes supplementation?

Raw foods certainly contain more digestive enzymes than processed (canned or dry) pet food. However, even dogs eating only raw food can benefit from digestive enzyme supplementation, since raw food still lacks the immediate wealth of enzymes found when eating a “fresh kill” in the wild. Plus, raw food from the store lacks the beneficial “whole animal” parts - the fresh glands, intestines, stomach, and fur (fiber) a carnivore would ingest and benefit from in the wild.

In addition, our canine companions are not efficient at digesting plant material (fruits, vegetables) or grains or cereals that are included in many raw food preparations.

I cook for my pet. Can I add the enzymes during the cooking process?

Absolutely not! Enzymes are destroyed at 115-120 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important to sprinkle or mix the enzymes with food at the time of feeding (and after any cooking or heating).

Condition-related questions

Do Daily Digestive Enzymes help with skin allergies?

Enzymes are certainly one facet of many to incorporate when dealing with a pet that has skin allergies. We know that adding enzymes to your pet’s diet can help break down the proteins that may be causing the allergic reactions that manifest in their skin.

Do Daily Digestive Enzymes help with flatulence?

They certainly can, and is one important facet in reducing flatulence in our pets! Beta glucanase is beneficial for dogs battling gas associated with poor digestion. Its role is to break down fiber, fungi, yeast, and bacteria that can lead to bloating and flatulence. Cellulase and hemicellulase reduces the internal fermentation process dogs rely on to break down fiber. This fermentation process can also lead to bloating and flatulence.

My dog has EPI. My veterinarian recommends Pancrezyme or Viokase (animal-based enzyme supplement) or fresh pancreas from the butcher. What’s the difference?

EPI is also known as pancreatic insufficiency and treatment involves replacing the dog’s pancreatic enzymes with enzymes from other sources along with altering their diet, adding MCTs, and supplementing with vitamins (Vitamins B12 and fat-soluble A, D, E, and K). Typically, sources of pancreatic enzymes include freeze-died and ground-up pig or cow pancreases. In some instances, raw pig pancreas can be used.

Because this is a very specific disorder with specific enzymes to correct, animalbased enzymes are the first line of treatment for EPI at the present time. Working closely with your vet is extremely important when treating a pet with EPI.

Product-related questions

How much does the scoop hold?

Each scoop is approximately ¾ teaspoon.

How many servings in a container of Daily Digestive Enzymes?

That will depend on the size of your pet, and their food intake. There are 100 scoops, and we recommend adding 1 scoop to every 1 cup (8oz) of food.

Safety-related questions

Do I need a prescription from my vet to purchase Daily Digestive Enzymes?

No – although we always encourage an open dialogue with your veterinarian regarding your pet’s supplements and health.

Can I give my pet Daily Digestive Enzymes when taking antibiotics or other medications?

Our enzymes are natural and safe. However, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian about your pet’s health supplement regimen when taking antibiotics or other medication.

Is there any time you would advise against giving enzymes to my pet?

If your pet has been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding or has undergone gastrointestinal surgery, we recommend waiting until your pet has made a full recovery. Always communicate with your veterinarian regarding what supplements you are currently giving when dealing with these matters.

Are there any side effects involved with giving Daily Digestive Enzymes to my pet?

Side effects are rare but not impossible. In the beginning, mild bloating or gas is possible as the intestinal tract begins to adapt to its new state of optimal digestion. Supplementing at 50% of the recommended dose for the first week will minimize any possible side effects. Side effects will dissipate with regular use, after the digestive tract acclimates.

Is Daily Digestive Enzymes safe for puppies?

Yes. Daily Digestive Enzymes can benefit puppies, too. We recommend waiting until eight weeks of age. Simply follow the dosing chart: 1 scoop per 8oz (1 cup) of pet food. If your puppy eats less than a cup of food at a time, adjust accordingly (i.e. ½ scoop per 4 oz of pet food, ¼ scoop per 2oz of pet food.)

Should I be concerned if my dog ingests too much of the digestive enzymes?

No. These enzymes are safe and natural and perform very specific functions (break-down protein, carbohydrates, and fat). Certainly, too much of a good thing may temporarily causee mild gas or bloating. Discontinue use of this product until symptoms subside and then begin again.

Storage-related questions

Can we mix the Daily Digestive Enzymes into our pet’s food and then store the food in the refrigerator for feeding later?

No. Enzymes are active ingredients that will start working on the food immediately. It is important to sprinkle or mix the enzymes with food at the time of feeding, because they’ll break down with extended exposure to light, air, or moisture.

What is the shelf life of Daily Digestive Enzymes, and do they need refrigeration?

We use a patented process known as the Bioactive Protein Peptide System (BPPS)™ which enhances the stability, absorption, and availability of the enzymes. It ensures a minimum two-year shelf life if they are stored in a cool and dry place (115-120 degrees Fahrenheit destroys enzymes!)

Refrigeration is not necessary, but will extend the life of the enzymes even further – but we hope it won’t take you two years to use an entire bottle!

Ingredient-/process-related questions

Is this product human-grade?

Yes.

Is the product made in the USA with only USA-sourced ingredients?

Yes. Our manufacturer is a full on-site GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), ISO 9001:2000 manufacturing facility in the United States, with more than 50 years of enzyme research and manufacturing experience. Can you tell me about the quality and safety of your enzymes? Our enzymes are free of pesticides, chemicals, preservatives, animal derivatives, dairy, lactose, yeast, fish or shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, artificial sweeteners and colors. All of our enzymes are non-GMO, kosher-certified and suitable for pets who are allergic to animal-based proteins (i.e. beef, pork).

Why does each enzyme in a digestive supplement have a different unit of activity?

Enzyme activity is required for its digestive function. This activity is measured by chemical tests known as assays. Every enzyme has its own assay method which is reported in activity units. The declared activity unit also identifies how the activity was measured. Each test has its own unit, typically used to label enzyme dietary supplements. Avoid supplements that only label enzymes in milligrams or servings (such as capsules)

Ample Nutrition Daily Digestive Enzymes uses vegetarian and plant-based (non-animal sourced) enzymes instead of animal-based (porcine) enzymes. Is this important?

Our vegetarian and plant-based enzymes work over a wider pH range - in both the low pH environment of the stomach and the more neutral pH environment of the intestine. Animal-based enzymes like trypsin, pepsin, and pancreatin (porcine) work in a narrower pH.

Animal-based enzymes do not contain cellulase, hemicellulase, or beta glucanase enzymes (carbohydrate-targeted enzymes). Dogs do not secrete these enzymes in their body, which can hinder the digestion of plant or grain material which can make up a portion of their diets. This is important as these enzymes, which break down fiber and plant polysaccharides, can liberate minerals such as zinc and selenium or nutrients such as linoleic acid, which may be bound by fiber.

Enzymes derived from animals may harbor contaminants such as antibiotic or pesticide residues, virus’ or hormones. It may be impossible to know the source of the animal-based enzymes.

Vegetarian and plant-based enzymes are pH stable, GMO-free, and do not require enteric coatings as they are more stable and active throughout the entire digestive system. They begin their work immediately!

Is the product stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse?

Yes. We take careful measures to ensure our Daily Digestive Enzymes are stored in temperature-controlled facilities. We also produce small batches to ensure the enzymes are viable and fresh!

Daily Omega-3 Fish Oil for Dogs and Cats

General questions

Can I use the product for my cat, or do you offer a fish oil for felines?

Yes, we recommend using our 8oz bottle with a smaller pump for cats. The smaller pump will allow more accurate dosing.

What are the safe and correct ratios for Omega-6 to Omega-3 essential fatty acids?

The optimal ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 essential fatty acids is 5:1. This ratio helps to manage renal, intestinal, joint, skin and coat health conditions while supporting cognitive and neurological development. Though this ratio may seem to include a lot of Omega-6 and only a little Omega-3, the natural diet contains almost exclusively Omega-6 essential fatty acids unless supplemented with Omega-3s.

Can I add this product to homemade dog food during the cooking process?

We recommend you apply the fish oil to the food after the cooking process to preserve its freshness.

Does this product have an odor, or will it give my pets bad breath or an odor?

Naturally, it has a fish odor. However, our oil is in triglyceride form, so it is immediately available to the body for quick bio-absorption and should not have a lingering We do not add any flavors or extracts to alter the fish oil taste or smell.

My pet gets Omega-3 fatty acids in his pet food? Should I still supplement?

Most commercial pet foods contain a source of Omega-3 fatty acids. However, much of the fatty acid is susceptible to oxidation as dry food is exposed to air. Before supplementation, talk with your vet to discuss the amount of Omega-3s in your pet’s diet to determine appropriate fatty acid dosing. This mostly becomes a concern when administering the osteoarthritis dosage rate of 310 mg/kg 0.75 (Bauer 2011). The safe upper limit for daily dosage of Omega-3s is 370 mg/kg 0.75.

What should I do if my pet refuses to take this supplement?

We recommend that you gradually introduce the supplement into your pet’s diet over a four-week period. Start with a quarter of the dose for week one, half the dose for week two, three-quarters of a dose for week three and an entire dose for week four and beyond.

If your dog has a sensitive stomach or a history of pancreatitis or soft stool, we highly recommend this gradual introduction so that your pet’s system can adapt to the dietary increase of fatty acids.

Condition-related questions

Should I give this supplement to my pet daily or only when he has issues?

Fish oil treats a wide variety of conditions ranging from allergies to arthritis, kidney and heart disease, dementia, neural and eye development in puppies, and inflammatory GI disease. We recommend giving this supplement DAILY for general health and support of these conditions.

Does this product decrease shedding?

It may help. It is important to understand that shedding can be a normal process of losing old or damaged hair. The frequency and amount of shedding is multifactorial and can depend on: 1) season changes, 2) breed, 3) and health of your dog. To minimize shedding, have your dog regularly groomed and brushed.

If your dog is excessively shedding, talk with your veterinarian. It can potentially be due to poor nutrition, stress, allergies or sensitivities, or an underlying medical disorder. Have your veterinarian rule-out underlying medical issues. Allergies or sensitivities should be addressed. Make sure your dog or cat is on a high-quality food and getting a good amount of omega-3 oils to balance out the typically high amounts of omega-6 oils in the diet. Regularly giving a high-grade omega 3 fish oil may help modify excessive shedding.

Does this product help with itchy skin?

Yes, there is a handful of research demonstrating that daily fish oil consumption can improve the skin and coat, decrease inflammation, and itchy skin.

Does this product help with itchy ears prone to infection?

Daily consumption of fish oil will help with skin atopy that occurs as a result of allergies and may have some impact on itchy ears. However, there are many reasons an ear may be prone to infection and therefore become itchy: allergies, narrow ear canal, swimmer’s ear, breed, yeast, resistant bacteria, etc. Please consult with your veterinarian to discuss additional therapies for itchy ears. A daily ear care routine will help pets experiencing itchy ears. We recommend using a good ear cleanser when needed to keep the ear dry and clean. We also recommend examining the ears daily for redness, discharge or a foul-smelling odor and using medication when needed.

Does this product help with joint issues/conditions?

Yes, there are a handful of studies that support the use of fish oils for joint inflammation, and arthritis.

Product-related questions

How much oil is in each pump?

  • 16oz bottle: One pump = 2mls of fish oil = EPA ~295mg and DHA ~194mg.
  • 8oz bottle: One pump = 0.5mls of fish oil = EPA ~74mg and DHA ~49mg

How many pumps will you get out of the 16oz bottle?

  • 16oz bottle: Approximately 236 pumps (1 pump = approximately 2ml)
  • 8oz bottle: Approximately 473 pumps (1 pump = approximately 0.5ml)

Safety-related questions

Can I use essential fatty acid supplements in animals with dietary allergies to fish?

Pure fish oils are free of peptides or proteins. Proteins cause the allergens in diets. Thus, feeding fish oils to animals with dietary fish allergies is safe. If in doubt, clinicians should inquire about the quality control of a recommended supplement.

Are there any safety concerns or side effects associated with this product?

Clotting time may be affected. As a result, we recommend stopping fish oil therapy 1-2 weeks before an elective surgery.

Is this product safe for puppies and kittens?

Use the 8oz aluminum bottle that has a smaller pump so you can measure more accurately for smaller weights. Give the maintenance dose for optimal health and well-being.

With any new food addition, give ½ of the amount of the recommended dose for one week. Then, the full amount the following week if no issues.

Should I be concerned if my pet ingests too much of this product?

Thankfully, fish oils are pretty benign, provided there is no Vitamin A or Vitamin D in it which could be an issue if ingested in high quantities. Generally, greasy stool, occasional vomiting and rarely pancreatitis are seen.

Can this product be given with other medications?

Because fish oil affects bleeding times, anticoagulants (aspirin, warfarin, heparin) should not be given in conjunction with this product. Patients with coagulation disorders should avoid fish oil products and consult with a veterinarian.

Do I need a prescription from my veterinarian to order this product?

No – although we always encourage an open dialogue with your veterinarian regarding your pet’s supplements and health.

Storage-related questions

How long should I keep the product once open?

We recommend using the fish oil within one year. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Refrigerating the product will prolong freshness and potency.

Where is the product manufactured, packaged and stored until it ships to me?

We store our products in climate-controlled facilities. We bottle small quantities at a time to ensure freshness and potency.

Does shipping the product in hot temperatures harm the EPA/DHA?

Hot temperatures can potentially damage the EPA/DHA through oxidation and should be avoided if possible. However, our fish oil contains a heat-lock seal and sealed bag to prevent any oxidation from occurring.

Is the product stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse?

Yes. We take careful efforts to ensure our High Potency Omega-3 Fish Oil is stored in temperature-controlled facilities.

We also produce small batches of our fish oil to ensure that the product is fresh and that DHA/EPA levels are as concentrated as possible when delivered to you.

What’s the better source of Omega-3 fatty acids for pets…fish or plant oil?

There are many different kinds of essential Omega-3 fatty acids. Yet not all of them are created equal.

Fish oil contains the prized EPA and DHA. These two fatty acids possess the highest bio-availability to pets and humans.

On the other hand, plant-based sources of Omega-3 oils (especially flax seeds) contain a much higher content of ALA (an Omega-3 fat not as readily utilized by the body).

Yet ALA can be converted to EPA and DHA by animals. However, this conversion process (of ALA to the superior EPA and DHA type) is notably limited (especially in dogs).

Bottom line? Fish oil is superior to flax and canola oils. But these plant-based Omega-3 fats are better for a dog than no Omega-3 at all.

Synergize the healthful benefits of our three core products: Complete Dog Prebiotic & Probiotic, High Potency Daily Digestive Enzymes and Daily Omega-3 Fish Oil. Many pet products claim to blend several supplements into an “all-in-one” solution. But we’ve learned that using the right ingredients in the right amounts is crucial. As a result of our in-depth research, we’ve created a line of stand-alone supplements that achieve the highest standards of quality in precise proportions. Together, these products will optimize your dog's health from tongue to tail:
